Tubal Surgery Is Answer to Tubal Blockage

You might have thought that voluntary tubal ligation was the way women got blocked tubes. However, you will find that pelvic inflammatory disease, called PID, is the leading reason behind infertility. While the disease can cause different things to happen, simply put it will block up your tubes so the sperm can’t get to the egg nor the egg get to the uterus.

You will, of course, have to talk to your doctor and have the proper testing done to find the cause of your infertility. If it is the result of an infection like pelvic inflammatory disease, then you will be given antibiotics to take care of the situation.

However, while the antibiotics should clear up your case of PID, they will not affect any damage that has been done to your tubes and the resultant tubal blockage. This means you will be left with two choices of how to proceed if you want to have a child.

Once the PID is cleared up, the way to overcome any damage done lies through using IVF to get pregnant or using tubal surgery. While IVF may be a viable option, it is expensive and does mess with your body. Unfortunately, you don’t pay or go through the messing up of your body only once because the statistics show it takes three times, on average, to get pregnant. If you want to get pregnant again later on, you will have to go through the mess all over again, paying for each try again.

With tubal surgery, it’s different. Once you have recovered from the surgery, usually within a very few weeks, you get to try as often as you want to conceive. Have the first child and then try again. All with no additional surgical cost.

There are three major things that affect you getting pregnant after tubal surgery. You can find out about these in a 2007 study found here: http://news.tubal-reversal.net/pregnancy-study-2007-pregnancy_rates.htm Age is the biggest factor. However, PID mostly affects women under 25, so hopefully this won’t be a big factor for you.

Hopefully, this article has provided you with information to help you with your decision about tubal blockage. Tubal surgery is a very viable option and could very well be the best way for you to overcome your infertility.
