Ian joins Xaira from AbbVie, where he served as Vice President, Global Head of Precision Medicine, Translational Research & Companion Diagnostics. His team led precision medicine and translational strategies across all therapeutic areas, from discovery through post-launch, informing patient selection, dose, and mechanism of action through integration of clinical studies, real-world data collaborations, and experimental medicine studies. These efforts shaped AbbVie's cross-enterprise disease strategies, led to identification of new targets, expanding the Discovery portfolio and combinations for clinical studies, supported by AI, spatial profiling, and digital pathology. Prior to AbbVie, Ian held the role of Vice President, Head of Oncology Translational Research and Companion Diagnostics Development at Johnson & Johnson. Earlier in his career, he held leadership roles at Genentech, Corvus Pharmaceuticals, Amgen, and Celera Genomics, contributing to the discovery and translational research of multiple therapeutic programs across therapeutic areas, including multiple companion diagnostics approvals.
Ian holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Leeds and completed postdoctoral training at the University of Virginia.
